CROCKPOT STEAMED RICE

This is a real time saver, if you are going to be using a lot of rice, or you really love rice or if you just want to try it out.

We use brown rice a lot in our dinners, but trying to squeeze in that extra 45-50 minutes before dinner to get the rice done, is not always easy.  So voila, now we cook up a couple batches and freeze the extra for later.

Crockpot Steamed Rice

10 cups Water
4 cups Rice

Pour water and rice into crock pot.   Cook for at least one hour before stirring, which is not completely necessary, since I did not stir at all until it was done.
Cook for 3 hours. Or for more “sticky” rice cook longer.

This makes a lot. I used this to make the Fried Rice.  Then I scooped about 2 cups each of leftover rice into a few baggies and put them in the freezer for later recipes.

When you’re ready to use the frozen rice, just set the bags in the fridge to thaw. To reheat, set in a bowl with a few ice cubes on top, cover and pop in the microwave until heated and fluffy again. Or you can put it in a pot on the stove with a bit of water (or ice cubes) cover and reheat.
