Crock pot Spaghetti

26 oz. jar spaghetti sauce
2 cups water
26 oz. jar spaghetti sauce
2 cups water
For super soft pasta:
Combine all ingredients in 4 quart crock pot. Cook on low for 5-7 hours until pasta is tender, stirring once during cooking time.
OR
For al dente pasta:
Cook the sauce & water for 5-7 hours on low until hot. Then stir in the pasta and turn to high. Cook on high for 20-25 minutes, stirring once, until the pasta is tender.
This spaghetti recipe looks wonderful.
Thanks – yep it is definitely a keeper.
Aren't spaghetti noodles made with eggs? Or is there a specific brand of pasta I can buy that's not rice based noodles that isn't made with eggs?
Most standard pasta that I can find (in the US) is semolina pasta that basically is semolina flour, salt, & water. Looking at ingredients on the pasta packages, it is super easy for me to find pasta without eggs to the point that I don't really think about it. It seems that store brands would be good candidates because eggs are not a required ingredient so it is left out to make a less expensive product.
I'm a bit surprised over the fact that there wasn't an inquiry about vegan pasta sauces, since MANY of the commercial kinds have meat or cheese in them.
All that aside, this looks like a great recipe! I love the fact that it has the option for two different levels of how the noodles are cooked since I like squishy noodles and my husband surely doesn't. This isn't an issue for us because we own multiple crockpots. 🙂 Now I think I finally have a reason to see if I can turn my seitan roast into meatballs!
Most spaghetti does not contain eggs, and most organic pasta sauce is just tomatoes and seasoning. You could always just make yourself, but it is pretty easy to find Vegan pasta and sauce.
I have made this twice now, both times ending in a mushy disaster. What size box of spaghetti do you use? I am also using gluten free spaghetti, but my size box may be different. Do you use an 8oz box, 12oz, or 16 oz?
The photo above shows an 8oz box of gluten free spaghetti sauce.
sounds like you need to cook it for a shorter time. crock pots vary in temperature slightly for hi/low settings so hers might be ok for 5-7 hours because hers runs cooler than yours. just a thought 🙂
Mine turned to mush also.
